Open House Melbourne 2018!

Firestation Print Studio was open again this weekend for Open House Melbourne. I love that I’m part of a wonderful community print studio and that it’s in such a cool historic building!

Built in 1906, the Malvern Fire Station (as it was known) served the community until 1988 when it relocated to bigger premises. Facing demolition in 1989 the council decided to repurpose it as an arts facility when people rallied to save it.

This weekend it was open to the public – doing what it does best – serving the community, providing learning opportunities! Artist studios were open; demostrations were happening and the gallery was looking fine with the ‘Plants and Animals’ exhibition currently showing. Lots of chatting, discovering, printing, exploring and more chatting! A great weekend!
